1Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Client", "you", "your") and Electric Leader ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), governing your use of our website at www.electricleader.co.za and the provision of all electrical, solar, and related services.

By accessing our website, submitting a quote request, or engaging our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our website or engage our services.

Please read these Terms carefully. They contain important information about your rights and obligations, including limitations on our liability and your responsibilities as a client.

2Our Services

Electric Leader provides professional residential electrical and solar installation services across South Africa. Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • On-grid and off-grid solar panel system design and installation
  • Residential electrical wiring for new builds and renovations
  • Distribution board (DB board) installation and upgrades
  • Electrical fault finding and diagnostic services
  • General electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Emergency electrical call-out services
  • Electrical safety inspections and compliance certificates

All services are subject to a prior site assessment, availability of our team, and mutual agreement on the scope and cost of work. We reserve the right to decline any work request at our sole discretion, including where access, safety conditions, or client requirements do not meet our operational standards.

We are based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and travel to all nine provinces of South Africa. Travel costs for work outside of the Greater Johannesburg area will be outlined in your quotation.

3Quotations & Pricing

Free Quotations

We provide free, no-obligation quotations for all services. A quotation is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated in writing. Prices quoted are in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Scope of Work

All quotations are based on the information available at the time of assessment. Should the actual scope of work differ materially from the original assessment — due to unforeseen site conditions, additional faults discovered during the work, or changes requested by the client — we reserve the right to issue a revised quotation before proceeding with the additional work.

Component Pricing

Prices for solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other hardware components are subject to change based on supplier pricing and exchange rate fluctuations. We will notify you of any material price changes before commencing work.

No Hidden Fees: We are committed to transparent pricing. We will never charge for work that was not agreed upon in writing without your prior approval.

We also reserve the right to withhold completion certificates (including Certificates of Compliance) until payment has been received in full.

Note: Work will not commence and materials will not be ordered until the agreed deposit has been received and cleared. This protects both parties and ensures your project is scheduled correctly.

5Scheduling & Site Access

Scheduling

Work will be scheduled once the deposit has been received. We will provide you with a confirmed start date and estimated completion timeframe. Dates are subject to weather conditions, supplier lead times, and other factors beyond our control. We will communicate any changes to the schedule as soon as possible.

Client Responsibilities

To enable us to complete our work efficiently and safely, you agree to:

  • Ensure safe, unrestricted access to the property and all relevant areas on agreed working days
  • Ensure that a responsible adult (aged 18+) is present on the property during all working hours
  • Provide access to water and ablution facilities for our team during their time on site
  • Disclose any known hazards, pre-existing faults, or structural concerns on the property prior to commencement
  • Ensure that animals are secured and do not pose a risk to our team
  • Ensure the work area is reasonably clear and accessible

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate work without penalty if site conditions are unsafe, access is denied, or the client fails to fulfil their responsibilities. Any costs incurred as a result of delays caused by the client may be charged accordingly.

6Workmanship & Warranty

Workmanship Guarantee

We guarantee the quality of our workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of completion. Should any defect arise in the work we performed during this period — due to faulty installation — we will rectify it at no additional charge, subject to the exclusions below.

Component Warranties

Hardware components (solar panels, inverters, batteries, DB boards, etc.) are subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms. We will assist you in lodging warranty claims but cannot be held responsible for manufacturer defects beyond our workmanship guarantee. Typical manufacturer warranties are:

  • Solar Panels: 10–25 year performance warranty (brand dependent)
  • Inverters: 2–10 year manufacturer warranty (brand dependent)
  • Lithium Batteries: 5–10 year warranty (brand dependent)
  • DB Boards & Electrical Components: 1–2 years (manufacturer dependent)

Warranty Exclusions

Our workmanship warranty does not cover defects or damage arising from:

  • Wilful damage, misuse, or negligence by the client or third parties
  • Modifications, tampering, or repairs carried out by anyone other than Electric Leader or an authorised party
  • Acts of God, lightning strikes, flooding, fire, or other force majeure events
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Failure to follow our operating and maintenance recommendations

7Regulatory Compliance

All electrical work performed by Electric Leader is carried out in accordance with:

  • SANS 10142-1 — The Wiring of Premises Code of Practice (South Africa)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and its Electrical Installation Regulations
  • National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act (Act 103 of 1977) where applicable
  • All other applicable South African National Standards and municipal by-laws

A Certificate of Compliance (CoC) will be issued upon completion of qualifying electrical work. The CoC confirms that the installation was inspected and complies with the relevant regulations at the time of issue. It is the client's responsibility to maintain the installation in compliance with regulations after the CoC is issued.

Important: Any modifications to the electrical installation after the issue of the CoC — by the client or any other party — may invalidate the certificate and could create safety and insurance risks. Always consult a registered electrician before making any changes.

8Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Electric Leader's total liability to you for any claim arising from or relating to our services shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to us for the specific work in respect of which the claim arises.

We shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
  • Damage caused by factors beyond our reasonable control, including load-shedding, power surges from the municipal grid, lightning, or acts of God
  • Pre-existing electrical faults or structural defects not identified during our assessment
  • Damage arising from the client's failure to follow our operational and maintenance recommendations

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by South African law.
